The English Ministry’s United Methodist Women has transformed itself into a visitation group. This month visits will happen on Thursday, May 25th at 1 p.m. We especially visit people who were once a part of our UMW unit and can no longer get out. If you would like to join us, call Cheryl Reagan, 619-972-8267.
On Wednesdays at 2 p.m. in Wesley Terrace, a small group meets for Bible study. Currently the focus is Exodus, a foundational story for the Jewish and Christian faiths. Everyone is welcome to join us in Wesley Terrace’s library on the first floor (the floor above the lobby) at 5343 Monroe Avenue—just across the parking lot from the church. The Bible Study leadership will be as follows:
June 7th – Pastor John
June 14th – Pastor John
May 17th – Cheryl Reagan
June 21st – Cheryl Reagan
June 28th – Pastor John
Changes in leadership may be necessary. Thanks for understanding.
If you know of people in need of showers or a hot meal, invite them to attend Co-Op Café on Mondays and Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to noon. On Wednesdays at 8:30, the Café is open for breakfast only until 10 a.m. It reopens at 4 p.m. for an evening meal before the Therapeutic Spirituality Group meets at 4:30 p.m. All are welcome and all services are free.
Patio Pantry is a food distribution that grew out of Co-Op Café and the Loaves and Fishes program. At 5 p.m. on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, produce, bread and other food stuffs are made available for free. People are asked to bring their own bags. The distribution lasts until the food is gone, usually about 1.5 to 2 hours. If you need help with groceries or know of someone who does, let them know about this resource! If you’d like to volunteer, there are many things to do to make a food distribution happen, and your work would be appreciated! Call Allen Langdale, 619-930-3409, or Cheryl Reagan, 619-972-8267, for more information.
At 4 p.m. on Wednesdays, Pastor John leads a Therapeutic Spirituality Group. It begins with an evening meal provided by Co-Op Café that lasts until about 4:30. Then a talk/discussion begins about Spirit and body, which is followed by prayer. Participants may join or opt out of any of the three activities. Everyone is welcome.
The Vietnamese Language School meets on Saturday mornings. The Principal is Pastor Toan Le and the Vice-Principal is Tuan Duong. It is certified with the San Diego School District so students meet the requirement for a second language.
